Commercial Battery Rebate NSW
From 1 September 2026 the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme adds three battery activities — BESS3, BESS4 and BESS5. Commercial sites are covered by BESS4 (20–200 kWh) or BESS5 (200 kWh and above), while apartment buildings sit under BESS3.
What you need to know
- Incentives are delivered through Peak Reduction Certificates, not a fixed cash rebate
- BESS4 covers batteries above 20 kWh and up to 200 kWh at non-residential sites
- BESS5 covers 200 kWh to 30,000 kWh, with incentives on the first 10,000 kWh
- Approved equipment, accredited installers and network approvals are required
