NSW Commercial & Industrial Battery Rebates – BESS5

Battery systems from 200 kWh to 30 MWh. The BESS5 activity commences 1 September 2026 under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme.

Who is BESS5 for?

The official BESS5 activity covers batteries over 200 kWh and up to 30,000 kWh, but the incentive applies only to the first 10,000 kWh. BESS5 also carries additional technical requirements, including internet connectivity and control by a Demand Response Aggregator, UL9540A testing and relevant connection and approval requirements. Some details remain subject to IPART consultation.
